The Southaven Board of Aldermen is going to wait on a legal opinion from the state about whether they can cut embattled Greg Davis' salary.
Tuesday night, the Board discussed cutting his pay, as he continues to be on medical leave. They told citizens, they do have the power to reduce Davis's salary, but have to follow strict legal protocols.
Several citizens encouraged the Board to either fire Davis or reduce his salary. The Aldermen did pass a previous resolution asking Davis to resign, but do not have the legal authority to force him out of office.
A group calling themselves Concerned Citizens of Southaven has formed, aiming to get their questions answered about Davis.
Davis is trouble for misusing city funds. The state has ordered him to pay back about $170,000. He's paid a significant sum of what he owes, but still owes the state thousands.
