WEDNESDAY, April 23, 2014 (HealthDay News) -- The deaths of well-known people offer an opportunity to educate the general public about disease detection and prevention, a new study suggests. Researchers surveyed 1,400 American men and women after Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died of pancreatic cancer in 2011 and learned that more than one-third of them sought information about his cause of death or information about cancer in general soon after his death was reported. TUESDAY, April 22, 2014 (HealthDay News) -- Less than 10 percent of crimes committed by mentally ill people are directly linked to the symptoms of their disorders, a new study shows. "When we hear about crimes committed by people with mental illness, they tend to be big headline-making crimes, so they get stuck in people's heads," said study author Jillian Peterson, a psychology professor at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn. Week 83 Weigh In:

No weigh in this week!

I had an amazing birthday week! My family came in from out of town.  My friends gathered to celebrate.  I had a cake with a big 104 on it to mark my achievement. It was all wonderful.

I also completely abandoned my sensible eating and gym-going.

I went to fancy restaurants.  I ate and drank a lot.  I had desserts all to myself.  There was a lot of cheese.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, but it was interesting to note that I also developed a bit of an upset stomach after just two days and I'm currently breaking out in a way I haven't in a long time.

I can't believe I used to eat like that all the time.  And I don't want to eat like that anymore!

My body has gotten used to my healthier habits and it craves going to the gym.

I know I gained weight this week.  Even though a friend took away my scale so I couldn't drive myself crazy with it, I snuck in a few weigh-ins before it was gone and the news was not good.  But that was to be expected.

I gave myself a week to indulge -- and my week to get back on track starts now.  Honestly, I'm not sure I'll be able to get back to that 104 pounds down mark by next Wednesday, but I'm going to try.  And if I don't quite make it, getting there will be my first post-birthday goal.

The easiest way for me to really get back on track is to go back to the basics, so, like I did 18 months ago, I'm heading off to Subway for lunch!
