(NewsCore) - A Boeing worker who became trapped under a 787 Dreamliner being towed at Washington state's Paine Field a week ago has had both his legs amputated below the knee, The Seattle Times reported Friday.
The 30-year-old employee remains in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after surgery Friday, the report said.
The accident occurred Feb. 3 at Everett's Paine Field -- which is also known as Snohomish County Airport -- when the man, who The Times did not name at the request of his family, was working as part of an escort team walking alongside a Japan Airlines 787.
It remained unclear how he had become stuck under the wheel of the aircraft.
Paine Field is the home of the Boeing Everett Factory, the primary assembly location for Boeing's wide-body 747, 767, 777 and 787 aircraft, which according to the company website, is recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest building in the world by volume
