(NewsCore) - The Oscars have barred Sacha Baron Cohen from attending the 84th Academy Awards as his wild new character "The Dictator," The New York Post and Deadline Hollywood reported Wednesday.

Cohen has said he would come to Sunday's big show dressed up as "The Dictator," the lead character from his new comedy about a nutty strongman that is part Moamar Ghadafi and a little Saddam Hussein, with hints of Kim Jong Il.

Cohen is a voting member of the Academy and is in the cast of "Hugo," which has been nominated for 11 Oscars, playing the evil train station inspector.
