(NewsCore) - A German court found Muslim extremist Arid Uka guilty Friday of the killing of two US airmen in a shooting at Frankfurt Airport last year and sentenced him to life in prison, AFP reported.
Uka, 21, opened fire on a group of US military personnel boarding a bus at the airport in March 2011. The attack killed Senior Airman Nicholas Alden, 25, and Airman First Class Zachary Cuddeback, 21.
Uka, an airport post office worker originally from Kosovo, was arrested while fleeing the scene of the attack. Witnesses reported hearing him shout the words "Allahu Akbar [God is great]" before opening fire.
Cuddeback died instantly in the attack after he was shot in the right temple. Alden suffered irreparable brain damage when he also was shot in the head. Two more servicemen were wounded.
Uka confessed to the killings during his first court appearance in August.
