Newt Gingrich Crosses Paths With MC Hammer in Las Vegas

(NewsCore) - Newt Gingrich ran into rapper MC Hammer as the two dined at The Palazzo hotel in Las Vegas Thursday night.

The Republican presidential candidate was frequenting the hotspot -- owned by his top donor, Sheldon Adelson -- when his national campaign director noticed that Hammer was also in the house.

"Newt and MC Hammer hanging out at Palazzo in Las Vegas. Pretty cool," Michael Krull tweeted.

The "U Can't Touch This" rapper -- real name Stanley Kirk Burrell -- also tweeted about the chance encounter but seemed nonplussed with the exchange, given his political persuasion.

"In Las Vegas ... Just ran into The Speaker himself .. Newt Gingrich having dinner at the same restaurant .. Small world," he tweeted.

"I don't care who wins from their side ...It's all scripted .. I'm team #Obama ... Newt is Newt .. Uncut and unapologetic Theater," he added.

It was unclear if the two exchanged words.

Gingrich was in Nevada in advance of the state's Republican Party caucuses on Saturday.
