CLEVELAND, Miss. - One person was reported injured Sunday night in Bolivar County, Miss., when high winds knocked down trees and power lines.

County Emergency Management Director Bill Quinton said the injury happened when a tree fell on a trailer in Gunnison. The injury was not believed to be life threatening, he said.

No other injuries have been reported.

The National Weather Service said tornado warnings were issued in Bolivar County, including in the city of Cleveland and the town of Benoit, as the storm system passed through between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. CDT.

"We've had a large amount of trees down all over Bolivar County," Quinton said Monday. "We're going out and assess what damage we have had."

In Cleveland, Quinton said damage was reported at the Sears and Walmart stores.

"We don't know whether we have straight line winds or tornadoes. We're going out to see about that and will be talking to the weather service," he said.

A dozen Mississippi counties were under tornado watches until midnight CDT Sunday. So were three Louisiana parishes and two Arkansas counties.

The line of storms brought rain, damaging winds and hail, but it was expected to weaken as it continued eastward early Monday.
