Little Rock Temps Hit 114!!!

Little Rock, Ark. - Little Rock has set a new record-high temperature of 114 degrees during a day of all-time extreme heat for Arkansas.

The National Weather Service reports that the temperature at Little Rock National Airport reached 114 just before 3 p.m. Wednesday. That breaks the record of 112 degrees set on July 31, 1986.

Fort Smith reached 115 degrees, breaking its all-time high for a third straight day. And across the state, the heat index soared. Newport's heat index hit 127 degrees.

In its latest alert, the weather service says Wednesday could be hottest day of the week and possibly the decade. All of Arkansas remains under an excessive heat warning.

No new heat-related deaths have been reported so far.
