While the premiere addition of Allen Iverson to the court was bittersweet for Memphis Grizzlies fans after a 116-127 loss to the Sacramento Kings Monday night, perhaps it was more so to A.I. himself as he expressed he was not so happy about the play time he received.
According to NBA Fanhouse , when asked after the game after recovering from a hamstring injury Iverson stated, "I had no problems (with the hamstring)… I had a problem with my butt from sitting on that bench so long. That's the only thing I got a problem with."
This, after Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins responded with the following when asked if A.I. would start for that night's game:
"He hasn't even been with the team until just a couple of days ago. He's going to come off the bench. He hasn't played all preseason, hasn't played the three regular-season games (leading up to Monday's loss). He only practiced three days in training camp before he got hurt so there's no way I would trot him out there in a starting role."
Iverson played only briefly as a reserve, scoring 11 points in less than 18 minutes.
