MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University Of Memphis will appeal the NCAA ruling that stripped it of 38 wins from the 2007-2008 basketball season.
The entire Memphis Athletic Department has been placed on probation, and faces losing thousands of dollars from championship revenues.
The NCAA detailed their findings in a 26 page report -- and in essence, as far as the NCAA is concerned, the Memphis Tigers 2007-2008 season never happened.
The school record 38 wins, the championship appearance, it's all gone.

The school will also have to return more than $600,000 in revenue associated with that season.
In their ruling, the NCAA said the issue came down to what they termed "strict liability" regarding the SAT score of former Tiger, Derrick Rose. Even though the NCAA clearinghouse had cleared Rose, once he was found to be ineligible the school would be penalized regardless of what they knew and when they knew it.
The University of Memphis responded Thursday afternoon as President Dr Shirley Raines and Athletic Director R.C. Johnson voiced their opposition to the NCAA's findings.
The good news is that the Tigers Basketball team will not be punished going forward-- no probation, no loss of scholarships, and how about this....the legendary Larry Finch is once again the winningest coach in school history.
