MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Streets Ministries announced Tuesday that the Calipari Family Foundation has made a five year, $1,000,000 commitment to the organization.
Beginning this past January, Streets Ministries received its first installment in the amount of $100,000 from the foundation.
With this grant, John and Ellen are choosing to address such issues as college scholarships, financial literacy, college prep initiatives, camping opportunities for youth, and many other programs needed to fund underserved adolescents in the Memphis metropolitan area.
“We are incredibly grateful to John and Ellen for this huge gift to Streets. On a level deeper than basketball, they have always cared and continue to care about Memphis. This will make a major impact on the kids who need it the most and it is a big win for our city that their Memphis giving is at such a generous level even after they have moved away,” said Staley Cates, Board President of the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation.
“I am most appreciative of John and Ellen Caliparis support of young people in the inner-city of Memphis, their continued love of Streets Ministries, and our desire to see Gospel transformation,” said Street Ministries Board Member and former Memphis basketball player, John Wilfong.
The Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation partners with Street Ministries.
