Less than a year after joining the Memphis Tiger football team as the defensive coordinator, Tim Walton has left the school for the greener pastures of the NFL.
FOX13 Sports has confirmed through a source, that Walton has accepted a job as the Detroit Lions defensive backs coach.
His departure creates a big hole on Tommy West's staff. Under Walton's guidance, the Tigers' defense made a drastic improvement in 2008, going from the 100th ranked defense in the nation, to the 57th ranked defense, and one that allowed nearly one hundred fewer yards per game, than they had a year ago.
