MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Myron Lowery told to FOX13 that Jack Sammons and Bill Boyd will serve as members of his transition team, but he refuses to confirm that Sammons will take the CAO post because it would not be appropriate at this time to discuss such matters.

Memphians can expect Jack Sammons will be the next Chief Administrative Officer of the city of Memphis.

Several sources confirm to FOX13 that former council member Sammons has been approached by upcoming mayor pro-temp Myron Lowery to fill the vacant position and Sammons is planning to accept.

Sammons called FOX13 and could not confirm nor deny the CAO position, but did say that he would not be running in the special election.

The Chief Administrative Office was held by Keith McGee, who announced his retirement shortly before Mayor Willie Herenton announced he would step down.

Source say Myron will appoint Sammons CAO as soon as he takes office as mayor pro-temp on July 11th. With the possibility that Sammons would remain in the position after the special election, depending on who won the race.

Lowery later released a statement regarding his transition team, which will advise him prior to assuming the post:

The members of the transition team are Councilman Bill Boyd who will serve as chairman, Regina Walker, Senior Vice President at United Way, Jack Sammons, President of Ampro Industries Inc., Jerome Rubin, Vice President Operations, Center City Commission and Attorney Desi Franklin.
