MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A recent online survey says the Bluff City is home to two of the top 25 most dangerous communities in the country.
The survey ranked the Douglass Community, near Warford and Mt. Olive, as the 7th most dangerous neighborhood in the country.
Charles Patterson, who's lived in the North Memphis community for 60 years, says a lot has changed but not for the better.
"Every year, every second, every minute, getting pretty bad," says Patterson.
Patterson agrees with the survey having been a victim of crime himself.
"A lot of trespassing, shooting, fighting, any old thing, mischief."
The area around Lemoyne-Owen College and the Annesdale Historic District, at Lamar and Bellevue in South Memphis, came in at number 11.
Even though blight is noticeable, Melissa Davis doesn't believe her neighborhood is the 11th most dangerous in the country.
"Actually, I don't see a lot of crime up and down here. You see people up and down the street, normal prostitution," says Davis.
Prostitution is a problem on Lamar, but Davis says she's lived in worse neighborhoods.
"I feel comfortable. One daughter says she feels safe in this area. Actually I do."
