NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A proposal that would require abortion clinics in Tennessee to post anti-coercion signs is advancing in the House.
The measure sponsored by Republican Rep. Susan Lynn of Mt. Juliet passed the House Health and Human Resources Committee on a voice vote Tuesday.
Any type of coercion to have an abortion is prohibited under current law. But Lynn has said some women may not know that and the sign simply spells out what's in the law.
Opponents of the measure question how it would affect individuals who are under age.
The companion bill is awaiting a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
