NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Republican Stephen Fincher's 8th District victory has put the GOP in full control of Tennessee's congressional delegation.

With 49 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Fincher had 61,875, or 59 percent of the vote, to Democratic state Sen. Roy Herron's 40,553, or 38 percent.

The state's congressional delegation, currently five Democrats and four Republicans, tipped to the GOP for the first time since Congressman Lincoln Davis was elected in 2002.

The 8th District race was among at least three expected to turn as Republicans tried to gain control of the U.S. House.

Earlier Tuesday night, Republicans also claimed victories in the 4th and 6th congressional districts, giving the GOP a 7-2 majority.
