OXFORD, Miss. - Deep in the heart of Oxford on campus at the University of Mississippi a storm of sorts is brewing.

A Klan member says, "There is one organization that stands up for white Americans and that's the Ku Klux Klan."

Thomas Reardon says, "That's group is as far away from the values of this university as any group I know."

Two weeks ago the University going against a 20 year tradition ordered the schools band to stop playing the song -- From Dixie with Love.

Reardon says, "It's been associated with groups that promote segregation."

Thomas Reardon Dean of Students says over the last several years students began tagging the song with a southern saying.

Reardon says, "A group of students kinda high jacked that song and started shouted the south will rise again."

The move to ban he says was to make everyone on campus comfortable, and keep the university responsible.

Reardon says, "We tried to work with our students to the point they were given the ultimatum drop the phrase or loose the song."

But the winds of controversy now blowing through Oxford come in the form of the Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.

A Klan member says, "I imagine there's going to be some people upset about seeing us everybody is entitles to their option."

This member who goes by the name Shane Tate says by banning the song from the game, they're effectively restricting the first amendment.

Tate says, "The College is selling its soul and getting rid of southern heritage and freedom."

Tate says the move will bring them to rally and march Saturday on campus before the game. He says not to bring or insight violence, but to exercise their right to speak.

Tate says, "It's just Dixie my ancestors fought and loved that song…it's southern…it's about southern heritage."

The university says they'll allow the group to demonstrate for 1 hour in a designated area adding that while they don't expect problems extra game day security will be on hand.

Reardon says, "We have planned for this I expect no problems."
