Southaven, Ms - The Mississippi Department of Transportation has frozen nearly $2-million in funding for projects in Southaven. The funding is on hold because of the investigation and audit of Southaven Mayor Greg Davis.
Many roads and intersections in the growing community are need of upgrades and repairs. But, the funding for these projects has been frozen until the investigation is finished.
In talking to Southaven Aldermen Greg Guy and William Brooks, they say they don't feel what MDOT is doing is fair. The state, they say, is investigating Mayor Greg Davis, not the city of Southaven. So, why should the whole city have to suffer? A lot of folks in Southaven feel the same way.
But, MDOT doesn't feel that way, the city of Southaven also stands to have frozen funding for an $850,000 dollar bike trail
and a grant to make it safer for kids to walk to school.
