Southaven, Ms - Some Southaven citizens want their mayor, Greg Davis, stripped of stipend money. They spoke up at Tuesday's Board of Aldermen meeting.
Despite voicing their concerns, no decision was made.
Alderman Greg Guy says they're following the city attorney's advice, and waiting on an opinion from the Attorney General.
There's been no official ruling on the stipend in question. The amount is nearly $8,000. $5,000 is for an educational stipend, the rest is for a longevity stipend.
Some say they're disappointed with the lack of action taken by the board.
"I understand there's a reluctance to make that big push on the floor without doing more research but they should have done it, hoped they would do it," said Tommy Hurst, Concerned Citizens of Southaven.
"We understand the anger, we understand the frustration, trying to do things as we need to do them, everything's slow," said Ronnie Hale, Alderman.
During the meeting, the board did accept another reading on a resolution to issue bonds to buy a fire station.
There's controversy swirling around their previous decision to lease that station. Two more votes are needed, before the resolution is approved.
