MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Hernando Police were still working leads in a rash of car burglaries on Green T Boulevard that happened several weeks ago when they started receiving reports of more burglaries off Mount Pleasant Road.

"I go out and the glove box is open and I think well, maybe it popped open. But then I got to looking and there was some change missing," said Ron Wounsche.

The latest round of car burglaries was discovered in Wounsche's subdivision and others Tuesday morning. All of the cars hit police say were unlocked.

"One of the kids had come to get a coke out of my truck and left it unlocked," Rhonda Childress said.

Some walked out for work to find they'd lost spare change.

"I called my wife to check her van and she said there's $3 to $4 worth of change missing," Wounsche said.

Others like Childress found much more missing. Her purse and wallet were gone as well as a sentimental item she feels sick about.

"Because of my grandmother. A picture of my Nannie and a letter in there. I can't never get that back," she said.

Police say about a dozen victims have filed police reports. However, they say they're likely many more victims than that.

"We think they hit about 30," said Detective Lee Hodge.

Police believe all of the cars were hit by the same people between the hours of midnight and 6 am and that the burglars picked subdivisions in the Mount Pleasant area because of its accessibility.

"They were looking for anything open and looking around houses, casing houses. So lock it up," Hodge said.

So far they've made no connections between the Green T or Mount Pleasant burglaries. Some suspect teens because of what wasn't taken from them.

"He (her son) had a $900 bow in the back seat and they didn't touch it. A bow and arrow," Childress said.

"We had binoculars and other valuables, CD's and all, they didn't touch any of that," said Wounsche.
