MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Crossroads Music, Olive Branch, Mississippi, inside you'll find guitars, keyboards, amps, and music teacher Ashley Harris.

As a teacher it's very satisfying to because my whole reason for doing this is so I believe God has given me a gift to do what I do and I enjoy what I have and I love giving that to someone else.

Many of Ashley's students are youngsters, and he hopes the music he teaches them will take them to the places he's gone.

It's taken me from Scotland to Romania to Africa to England to Buhkarest to all over the place.

If there's any upturn to the downturn in the economy, Ashley says it's this, the demand for music lessons are way up this summer, because more families are staying home and signing their children up for lessons over the summer, and will apply what they've learned in school in the Fall and beyond.

If you want to be a good musician you have to invest, you have to apply yourself you have to practice, you have to put in time and if you invest in that as a musician you can learn to invest that in anything else you need to.

As for lessons and learning, being a music teacher is patience for Ashley.

From time to time, it is also a lesson in patience for Ashley's students.

I've had students that have been harder on themselves that I would ever be.

Ultimately what Ashley wants is for the kids to excel, and walk away with a music lesson that will help them in life.

If that child can grow in it and take it as far as it can go wherever that ,ay be that makes me…I get a lot out of that because I've done something to help that child, It's like I have had a hand in that.
