Marshall County, MS - Mario Taylor is accused of murdering one man, robbing another and shooting at a sheriff's deputy in a crime spree that spanned Tate and Marshall Counties.
Investigators say the Taylor who was armed with a shotgun, terrorized multiple people, throughout the two county area, including his mother.
They say there are 5 different crime scenes to process.
Marshall County Sheriff Kenneth Dickerson says, "Goes to show you, in my opinion, what law enforcement has to go through, first hand."
Investigators say the crime spree started in Tate County, where Taylor allegedly roughed up his mother, and stole her shotgun and car. He's also accused of murdering a man on Highway 4, getting into a shootout with a store clerk he allegedly robbed and kidnapping his uncle.
He later allegedly led Tate County Sheriff's Deputy on a high speed chase to Marshall County, where investigators say he tried to kill the deputy.
Dickerson says, "The suspect rammed the deputies car. There was evidence of shots being fired. From observation the suspect was shot at the scene."
The name of the Tate County Deputy involved in the shooting is not being released, but we're told he was treated at the MED for a leg injury and was released the same night.
The Marshall County Sheriff says his injuries could have been much worse.
Dickerson says, "I think the suspect was having problems with the shotgun, maybe jamming up i think if he hadn't had problems the deputy could have been killed right there on the scene."
The suspect underwent surgery for his gunshot wound Tuesday and is expected to make a full recovery.
In Tate county, he's been charged with aggravated assault-domestic violence, auto theft, murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and attempted capitol murder of a law enforcement officer.
More charges are expected to be filed in Marshall county.
