Memphis, Tn - Valero Energy Corp. is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the fatal shooting of an employee of the company's refinery in Memphis.
Memphis police said Thursday that detectives are investigating the killing of 40-year-old Leonard Davidson on Jan. 20. Police said Davidson was on his way to work in the early morning when witnesses saw him running and calling for help.
A Dodge Ram truck then pulled alongside him. A passenger jumped out and shot Davidson.
Al Philippus, a Valero vice president, says company CEO Bill Klesse asked him to contact Memphis authorities and offer the reward, which is the largest by a single private donor since Crime Stoppers began operating in Memphis in 1981.
Valero is based in San Antonio.
