Owens Pleads Guilty To Percival Murder

DeSoto COunty, MS - A quick resolution to what at first appeared to be a murder mystery in North Mississippi.

Michael Owens plead guilty Friday morning to the murder of his girlfriend, 50 year old Sherry Smith Percival.

According to authorities, Owens hit Smith in the head with a stick around June 3rd or 4th.

Owens was convicted of manslaughter and aggravated assault in Texas several years ago.

Percival's badly decomposed body was found January 31st near a soybean field off Highway 301 and Pratt Road.

According to the DeSoto County District Attorney, Owens plead guilty to murder this morning and was sentenced to life in prison.
