Mississippi Banning Weight Loss Shots

Memphis, TN - Mississippi may be the fattest state in the nation and now state leaders are banning some popular weight loss shots.

Mississippi’s Medical Licensing Board tells FOX13 many weight loss clinics are using supplements, vitamins and shots that have not been approved for losing weight.

Last month, the FDA banned some supplements and now Mississippi is cracking down. That means HCG injections and the popular lipo shot are no longer legal in Mississippi.

"They've been promoting for weight loss. I have no problem or Board of Medical Licensure has no problem with a Physician using Vitamins or supplements, B12 injections for an indication. But, they are not approved by the FDA for weight loss," Dr. Vann Craig said.

Craig said FOX13 that Mississippi is simply enforcing rules that have been in place for some time. He adds any physician violating the rules will be disciplined.
