Memphis, Tn - An educator at the Pink Palace museum is getting the cold shoulder in a good way. Alex Eilers has been selected to do research in Antarctica.
During a six-week trip she will help scientists study Weddell seals.
The trip is offered through a professional development program for educators called Polar Trec.
Eilers is the second museum educator selected to participate since the start of the program in 2004.
Part of her duties will include attaching transmitters to the seals so researchers can learn more about the undersea world.
