GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - If you would like to be part of something very special for the kids in our community, all you have to do is get up Saturday morning and head to Germantown's Riverdale Park… and bring your work gloves.

That's right… work gloves, and work shoes, and you might want to wear a hat, because you will be a volunteer helping to put the finishing touches on one of the coolest playgrounds in the country.

The name of the new playground is the Everybody Tree House at Riverdale Park. What makes this playground different from any other playground in the country is the fact that it really is for everyone, including children who might even be in a wheelchair. The entire playground is accessible to everyone, and it took just about everyone to make it happen.

It started with Tom Norquist's company Playcore, which designed and built all the components.

"With the city and county and the board of education, and we had a physical therapist from Baptist Rehab, and we all came together and we did a design day," Norquist explained. "The most compelling thing that came out was the magical, mystical tree house."

The tree house and the rest of this playground will open to everyone as soon as a few more people pitch in to help with the final touches, like spreading mulch and cleaning up from the construction. There's no real heavy lifting, but do wear work clothes and show up at 7:00am sharp Saturday morning.

You must work the entire shift, which ends at 11:00am, then they feed you lunch. Or, you can eat lunch and work the second shift. Then you too can be part of what will be the playground of the future.
