MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Need information about Memphis City Schools? Well now there's an app for that.

The iPhone application was just recently approved by Apple and has already been downloaded thousands of times. The most amazing part is it was created by a Fairley High School student.

The student is fifteen-year-old Devin Snipes, a self taught application maker. The MCS application makes five successful apps for Devin. But this is the first he created with the entire community in mind.

"Apple called me and they were like, 'this is really important, we'll go ahead and accept it,'" said Devin. "I was excited. And that day I put it on my website, 1,000 downloads."

There's been an average of 50 downloads a day since. The app will locate a school, give you contact information, and the latest news.

Devin found a need in the community. That's why he was surprised when Memphis City Schools' engineers never set up a second interview to talk about the app after meeting in mid June. He was hoping to work together in an internship to build the app together.

Memphis City Schools said changing of its technical systems may be why engineers have not had further meetings with Devin.

"I didn't ask for money, I really just wanted to learn," said Devin. "I wanted to go in there, 'hey when do I get to work with these guys, when do I start my internship?' It kind of felt pointless after all that."

So Devin went ahead and made the app on his own. It has turned out to be one of his most popular.

His app that will tell someone if they're ugly is downloaded more than 200 times a day all over the world.

"You chose an image from your photo library or take one and it will generate a random response if you're ugly or not," said Devin.

Devin makes up to 25 dollars a day from the app. He has been contacted by businesses and individuals to make applications. At 15 Devin is already the boss of his own business.

"I actually don't want to work for myself," said Devin. "I want to work for Apple, but if it ends up happening working for myself that could be nice too."
