Memphis, TN - "She was shot in the head, I didn't recognize immediately who it was."
"Who was it?"
"Taffi Crawford."
Testimony from the first witness of the day proved too much for Taffi Crawford's mother, who left the courtroom following a graphic description of her daughter lying in the Delta Medical Center parking lot after she was shot.
Crawford's ex-fiancé and former Memphis Firefighter Frank Graham is charged with the murder. The two have a history of domestic violence
Prosecutors say graham borrowed a neighbor's car, drove to Delta Medical and gunned her down because she was trying to break up with him.
"She was leaving him and he couldn't let her go, so he goes to her place of work and shoots her then twice more," argued Prosecutor Miss Branaham.
The defense says Graham borrowed the car to catch his fiancé cheating.
"Frank Graham discovered a firefighter who he came to the academy with was having a relationship with his fiancé," claimed Defense Attorney Paul Springer. "When you hear all the evidence and see it all you'll find he's not guilty of Murder in the First."
In a statement to police, Graham said someone told him the two were meeting and he wanted to scare her. He says the gun accidentally went off when he got out of the car, saying "I love her too much to hurt her."
But, prosecutors don't buy it and neither does Crawford's sister, Fallon Murray.
"You don't shoot someone that many times if it's an accident," she said. "I hope we get justice."
