MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An elderly man in the South Memphis area has died from extreme heat conditions.
The Shelby County Health Department stated that the 72-year old man died Wednesday. It is not known if he had other health problems, but heat was a contributing factor in his death. His identity has not been released.
According to Public Health Coordinator Heather Reynolds, the man had a working air conditioner but it was blowing hot air. He also had a working fan, but all of the windows at the home were closed.
The victim's address was not released, but Reynolds did confirm that he lived in the 38109 zip code.
