If you're more about the holiday shopping versus the turkey, there's good news -- many stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day.
Retail stores this year are hurting for business, so they're doing anything they can to get you through the door, from earlier sales to longer store hours "They're trying to eke every penny out of every day of the selling season," Wendy Liebmann, president of the consulting firm WSL Strategic Retail, told USA Today . "The more days they're open, the more chance they have of pulling money out of our pockets."
Here's a list of some stores that will be welcoming you with open arms on turkey day. But if you're planning on shopping on Black Friday instead, check out the stores with the best deals as well as a guide to some of the best online tools to find Black Friday sales .
Walmart
To avoid the tragic trampling death of an employee at a store in New York last year, Wal-Mart said many of its stores will open around the clock starting at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. But its sale specials won't start until the next day at 5 a.m.
Old Navy
The chain said on its Facebook page that it will be open on Thanksgiving. To see specific items that will be on sale, go to their official Gobblepalooza page .
Gap
Check the Gap site to see if your local store will be open.
Banana Republic
Some stores will be open on Thanksgiving .
Radio Shack
USA Today reports that 700 locations of the electronics chain will be open on Thanksgiving . Black Friday savings will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on turkey day.
Kmart
The majority of Kmart stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thanksgiving .
Toys"R"Us
USA Today reports that the store technically won't be open on Thanksgiving Day, but most of the chain's stores will open at midnight. About 70 unadvertised door busters will be available from 12 a.m. and 1 p.m.
