Memphis, Tn - The former Memphis Cop who lied about being shot learned his fate in court on Wednesday.

Norman Benjamin was sentenced eight years in prison after pleading guilty to five separate charges including False Reporting, Providing a Handgun to a Juvenile, and Felony Reckless Endangerment.

Benjamin shot himself over the Labor Day weekend in 2011, and blamed a "Hispanic" man.

Police later learned the truth and arrested Benjamin on September 28.

The investigation also revealed that Benjamin had a bizarre obsession with an underage female.

She testified in court on the day of the sentencing.

"He bought the family happiness. He wanted my family to need him for everything, wanted us to rely on him for anything, food, drinks, rent, everything and at the end of it that's how he had it, we all needed him for everything," said the teenager in question.

She says he used the person who provided inmates medicine to score her Xanex pills.

"If I told him I wanted 10 of em', he would bring 10 of em', if I wanted marijuana he would bring me marijuana."

When she asked for a pink gun, Benjamin bought it. She says he hoped to be her boyfriend, but was waiting until she turned 18 on September 30th.

About one month before her birthday, the TBI says phone recordings revealed Benjamin's plot to kill the teenager's boyfriend.

Investigators say a hitman tried to carry out the hit by shooting up the boyfriend's home. But, no one got hurt.
