Deputy In Jail After Driving Intoxicated

Memphis, TN - A Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputy was arrested Monday afternoon after getting liquored up behind the wheel.

The Metro DUI Squad received a call of a person driving erratic in the area of Berryhill and Chimney Rock. When officers arrived, they found William Speight sitting behind the steering wheel of his truck.

Police said he had blood shot eyes and alcohol on him. He told officers he had only had a couple of beers but he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

He was arrested on that charge along with DUI, reckless driving, and public intoxication.

He is due in court Wednesday morning.
