Memphis, Tn - Disgraced Memphis cop Norman Benjamin has entered a plea of guilty to five charges stemming from an incident when he lied to police officers about who shot him.

The incident happened over the Labor Day weekend in 2011. Police responded to a call of an officer shot at a Mexican restaurant on Summer Ave.

When police arrived on the scene, they found Sergeant Benjamin had been shot. He claimed a Hispanic man was responsible.

It was later revealed that Benjamin had shot himself.

The investigation also exposed that Benjamin had tried to hire a hitman to kill the boyfriend of an underage female he was in a relationship with.

He was arrested on September 28 and charged with Solicitation of Commit First Degree Murder, False Reporting, and Providing a Handgun to a Juvenile. He was also fired from the police department.

Thursday, two additional charges were added: Giving Drugs to a Minor and Felony Reckless Endangerment.

He will be sentenced February 2.
