One man is dead and three others injured after a small plane crashed at Memphis International Airport Sunday.

The incident occurred around 4:15pm on the north side of the airport near the FedEx ramp.

The single engine plane was carrying 4 people, including 2 children. The plane fell short of the runway and crashed, bursting into flames.

The victims were rushed to The Med, but the pilot and co-owner of the plane, Emmett O'Ryan, later died.

A spokesman for the airport says the plane was trying to land at the wrong runway.

The plane was flying to Memphis from Lewisburg, West Virginia.

The names of the other 3 victims have not been released, however they suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
