Friday is one of the busiest shopping days of the year, and one local church is offering "drop and shop" childcare for your children.
You might call these church members the knights in shining armor of Black Friday. The child care isn't free, but all the money raised goes to a good cause.
Anybody who's experienced the frenzy of Black Friday sales know it's not the best place for little ones.
So, if you're trying to avoid temper tantrums or just want to keep holiday presents a secret, church members at New Tyler African Methodist Episcopal Church are willing to take your children off your hands.
Kristen Saulsberry, President of the church's Young People Division says, "it's like a 1 day daycare for you to bring your child, you can go out and shop we'll have food, games, and a bunch of activities for the child."
Not only will adult church members be on hand, so will the daycare teachers. They'll be watching children ages 3 and older, from 5:00am until noon on Friday.
It costs $10 for one child and $5 for each additional child.
Not only is the child care affordable, it also raises money for the New Tyler Church Youth group to go to summer camp this year.
Saulsberry says, "it's supposed to be fun, we've never been to it, it's our first year going."
Still, for some Black Friday shopping just isn't on their list. One Target shopper says, "I don't think it's worth the deals, it's not worth all the hassle, and most of the time the stuff is already gone that you want."
New Tyler Church will also have breakfast and lunch for your children.
The church is located on 3300 Summer Avenue. You don't have to call in advance, you can just show up. For more information, call 901-240-0001.
