Babysitter Arrested in Child's Death

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Memphis Police have arrested a 16-year old girl for the death of a 10-month old baby last Saturday.

Jasmine Malone has been charged with First Degree Murder in the Perpetration of Aggravated Child Abuse.

Police were initially told that the child, Wynter Roberts, had fallen from a bed while at an at-home daycare located on the 4400-block of Grinstead.

She was rushed to Germantown LeBonheur and later airlifted to LeBonheur Children's Hospital downtown in extremely critical condition. She died Sunday morning.

Family members of Wynter were immediately suspicious that the child had been beaten.

A report from the Shelby County Medical Examiner ruled her death a homicide as a result of blunt force trauma.
