Memphis, Tn - An October 27th raid on the Memphis Animal Shelter revealed horrific conditions and a number of unhealthy animals. The shelter was raided after a search warrant was issued that included photos of an emaciated puppy.
The dog in question was healthy looking when it was admitted to the shelter in August, but later died of starvation on September 4th.
The warrant includes the allegation that dogs with rabies were housed with dogs that did not have rabies. Volunteers informed Kenneth Moody, who was the Director of the facility at the time, and Animal Services Administrator Ernest Alexander about the conditions in the facility.
An anonymous informant later took the pictures of the puppy that led, in part, to the warrant.
Video Cameras will be installed in the shelter to better monitor the activities and conditions inside.
