MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An off-duty Memphis Police officer was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning after he was involved in a car accident with another drunk driver.
The incident occurred around 2:20am at Hwy 385 and Ridgeway Road. Officers arrived at the scene to find a white '98 Mazda truck and a white '07 Ford Fusion sedan pulled over to the side of the road.
Investigators determined that the driver of the truck, identified as off-duty MPD officer 47-year old Major Prentiss Jolly, side-swiped the sedan, driven by 21-year old Daryce Aldridge. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound.
While no one was injured in the accident, officers detected the smell of alcohol on both drivers.
Both Jolly and Aldridge were arrested and charged with DUI, refusal to submit to a sobriety test and public intoxication. Jolly received an additional charge of reckless driving.
