Memphis, Tn - Congressman Steve Cohen is making another push to legalize marijuana.
Monday, the Democratic Congressman from Memphis sent the Federal Drug Czar a letter asking the Office of National Drug Control Policy rethink marijuana laws.
Cohen said in part, "There is no evidence that marijuana has the same addictive qualities or damaging consequences as cocaine, heroin or methamphetamine and should not be treated as such."
"Law enforcement costs for pursuing marijuana users could be as much as seven point six billion dollars a year, or nearly 10 thousand per arrest," he went on to say.
This isn't the first time Cohen has made a push to legalize weed.
Earlier this year, he sponsored a bill to de-criminalize it that's yet to be taken up on capital hill.
