2 Year Old Boy From Effie House Fire Dies

Memphis, Tn - The 2 year old boy burned in last week’s fire on Effie Rd. has died.

Catareon Dunn was pronounced dead Monday afternoon at Le Bonheur. His older brother Ladareon died last week shortly after the fire.

The fire began when the boy’s mother and aunt left them home alone, sparking citywide outrage. Comments by Marilyn Wilson, their aunt, left viewers in shock and disbelief. She told Fox 13 shortly after the fire, “I really need to get in there to see did my purse burn up, cause I had my food stamp card and everything in there.”

Wilson was later taken into custody on unrelated charges dating back to 2006.

The boy’s mother, 23 year old Melanie Dunn, has yet to be charged with any crimes. Dunn also has a five year old boy who was not at the house at the time of the fire. He is currently staying with relatives.
