MEMPHIS, Tenn. - An expert on election procedures testified in Chancery Court she believes more than 10,000 ballots cast in the August Election could be questionable due to alleged mistakes in the voting process.

Former Seattle Washington Election Superintendent Julie Anne Kempf testified on behalf of local democrats who are seeking to overturn the results of the August 5th Election due to alleged Shelby County Election Commission improprieties.

Her testimony came on the opening day of a trial that's looking into whether technical errors resulted in allegedly thousands of voters being turned away at the polls or their votes not counted.

Kempf figured to be the key witness for the plaintiffs since Judge Arnold Goldin ruled on Monday she was qualified to speak as an expert.

The trial is expected to continue through Thursday.
