LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A federal judge has rejected a request for a new trial for an Arkansas doctor convicted of planning a bombing outside the home of the state medical board chairman.

U.S. District Judge Brian Miller issued a one-page order Thursday afternoon denying the request by Dr. Randeep Mann, who faces up to life in prison for the February 2009 bombing at the home of Dr. Trent Pierce.

Miller also rejected a request by Mann's wife, Sangeeta, for an acquittal or new trial. Sangeeta Mann was convicted of perjury and obstruction charges in the case.

Miller rejected both motions without elaboration. The Manns are to be sentenced later this fall, and their attorneys say they'll appeal the convictions after the sentencing.
