MEMPHIS, Tenn. - He's a kid who's figured out the power of his voice. His name is P-Nut and he's trying to become a household name.
"I'm bout to spit something for ya'll"
P-Nut is 7-years old and he has been making a name for himself in the Memphis hip hop game since he was only four.
"I was four years old and my dad taught me how to rap by doing math. Like 2 plus 2 equals four, I'm walking through the door."
He immediately fell in love with rhyming so he started writing his own rap songs. It didn't take long for his father to realize his son had a talent for music.
"I just when I think, like if I go outside see kids playing I just write stuff down cause when I think I'm just writing it."
P-Nut may only be seven but he already has an album and a fan base.
He has worked hard on his craft but the little rapper stays true to himself and gives God praise for giving him his talent.
"That's God, because God gave me this opportunity to rap."
Like any other seven year old P-Nut likes to have a good time, but when he is in the studio recording- it's all business.
"It feels good because I'm letting all the steam that I have come out."
As much as he enjoys being in the studio he also enjoys performing, P-Nut is performing at this weeks Hip Hop Expo along side several Memphis rappers.
Great for P-Nut because performing is what he loves to do.
"It's just me going out there and doing what I have to do over and over again. To let the fans see what I can do."
This seven year old is only in the second grade and he has some advice for any kid who has dreams of one day being in the music business.
"I'll tell them to stay in school, pay attention to your teacher, your mother. If you trying to do the same thing just do what I told you to do and you will make it there.
