MEMPHIS, Tenn. - To better illustrate just how drinking can affect one's ability behind the wheel, FOX13's Earle Farrell went back to driving school. As he explains, young drivers are getting a glimpse of what driving drunk looks like with the help of 'drunk goggles.'

Over the past 19 years, Max Maxwell has taught more than 10,000 teenagers how to drive. Part of that education is how to get across the dangers of drinking and driving. He came up with a pretty good illustration, by utilizing goggles that make you see like a drunk.

"Now there's a way to show the affects of drinking when they have never had a drink," explained Maxwell. "It simulates the effects of being intoxicated at about .07 [blood-alcohol level]."

FOX13's Earle Farrell gave the driving course a shot, first without the goggles, and made a perfect score. Once he donned the goggles and tried the course again, the cones went flying.

It was proof positive that just seeing like a drunk can end in disaster. For all the kids Max Maxwell teaches to drive, this is a lesson that leaves a very long lasting impression.
