MEMPHIS, Tenn. - City of Memphis fire fighters and police officers flooded City Hall Wednesday to protest a change in pension and benefits.

The meeting became so crowded; it had to be rescheduled for later this month in a bigger meeting place.

Mayor AC Wharton formed a sub committee of business leaders to look at ways to save the city money.

Nothing has been discussed yet, but fire fighters and police officers are worried it will affect their pensions and health benefits.

"Hard to have what we have now, we've earned it and we want to keep it," said Larry Anthony from the Fire Fights Union.

"Hopefully when it's all said and done we can pass along a set of recommendations to Mayor Wharton that he can then work with the city council on and help close that budget gap that exists today," said Doug Edwards, a former Morgan Keegan CEO.

The Memphis first responders say they will be back at the rescheduled meeting on September 15th.
