Tupelo Public School District officials are considering an expansion of drug testing policy.
Superintendent Randy Shaver said a comprehensive policy will be drafted with input from the community.
Officials are weighing more testing for athletes, random testing of all students in grades 6 to 12 and district employees.
Shaver told the school board during its meeting Tuesday that the measure would "impact everyone in the school system."
The district currently has random testing of student athletes. Employees who drive for the district like bus drivers and coaches are also tested.
Students and employees can be tested for drugs if there is a reasonable suspicion but there is no policy of random tests for either group.
