Memphis Mayor Pro-Tem Myron Lowery is now part of the long list of candidates running for Memphis Mayor.
Lowery picked up a petition to run Monday afternoon.
He needs 25 signatures to run in the October 15th special election.
Lowery says he has as good a chance as anyone to win.
"All of the candidates have the same number of days in which to campaign. I'm just like the other candidates doing the best I can," said Lowery. "I'm running a city as well as campaign, I'm completely optimistic that citizens will agree that I'm the best candidate in this race."
Shelby County Mayor A C Wharton is following in Mayor Pro Tem Lowery's footsteps; he says he plans to pull his petition to run for Memphis Mayor on Thursday.
