LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - A tornado Thursday in Arkansas and Phillips counties in east Arkansas and on into Mississippi stayed on the ground for 32.1 miles, the National Weather Service said Friday.
The agency issued a news release that said a storm survey showed the twister touched down 5.2 miles south of Tichnor in Arkansas County, passed through a portion of Phillips County, crossed into the state of Mississippi near Burke Landing, then crossed back over into Phillips County, Ark.
The weather service said the tornado was rated an EF2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale from EF0 to EF5, with winds from 111 mph to 135 mph.
