MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Lorenzen Wright's ex-wife, Sherra Wright, has been interviewed by Memphis and Collierville police regarding her ex-husbands disappearance and murder.
Gail Mathes, Sherra's divorce attorney, insists her client had no financial reason to want her husband dead.
"The worst thing that could happen to her is for Mr. Wright to be deceased. She needed him to be alive and working and helping her support the children," said Mathes.
According to Mathes, Lorenzen had a court order to pay Ms. Wright $10,000 a month in alimony and the children $16,000."
Money he never paid.
"There is absolutely no motive here. I mean she needed him terribly to help her and when all the debts that they have would wipe out any insurance she'd receive," said Mathes.
The final months of Lorenzen's life leaves more questions than answers.
Monday, Sherra Wright met with Collierville police revealing information she failed to tell detectives in an earlier meeting when Wright was just a missing person.
"She acknowledged that three men had come to her door approximately six weeks before," said Mathes. "She stated she had not told anyone that because she had been threatened with her life or the life of one of her children."
Over a month later on Monday, July 19th, police received a 911 call from Lorenzen Wright's cell phone.
Expletives could be heard in the back ground, then at least 10 gunshots. However, Wright was reported as being seen Monday evening at the New Era Barber Shop.
"He was in a pretty good mood, just came in stopped by briefly in town for a moment see his family got his hair cut," said Kelvin Lott of New Era.
Wright's mother, Deborah Marion, reported him missing Thursday July 22nd.
Saturday, July 24th after no word from Lorenzen, Marion made this plea for Wright to contact his family.
"If you in the sound of my voice you need to be calling here and letting us know you are ok if nothing else. You haven't even got to come back. Just let us know that you are all right because we are worried sick."
Wednesday July 28th, Wright's body was found in a field off Callis Creek.
"Just in Memphis we lost a great guy. For what reason? It's just sad what goes on here on a daily basis. Violence and killing," said Penny Hardaway.
